In the installation Field of Mines, the mines are meant to draw attention to the explosive nature of biotechnology and gene tampering. Safely navigating that minefield is one of the vital questions facing this and future generations. The blown glass balls represent the fragility of the Genetically Modified Organism (GMO) and, swinging freely on their tethers, tell a tale about the uncertain outcome of man tampering with the natural order.

In Field of Dreams, Michael blends the contemporary issues of the GMO and our technologically transfixed society. Wood boxes with the repeating rows of stacked glass windows remind us of our obsession with the electronic image. On top, pierced blown glass corn reveals genetic tampering and hangs on intertwined rods symbolic of strands of DNA.
